I am a Medway and Kent based artist with a ‘Nucleus’ studio located in the historic town of Rochester. In recent years, I have predominately used the medium of oil paint to explore the duality between permanence and transience in our world .
Attempting to capture everyday fleeting moments has become integral to my practice through the use of metaphorical writings, readymade/created objects and printed images that include some references to historical and current artists’ works. These are all then ordered into a ‘working wall’ mind map format which is used - not only as a means to generate new painted works - but additionally, I envisage these reality-based recordings morphing into loose, ‘folktale’ style narratives, being open to interpretation, and very much their own entity. Perhaps, they will take the form of illustrated verse and/or short animations.
